"Can't We all Just Get Along... Jesus, the only one who can bring Peace"
Luke 2:1-20; Matthew 5:9
Pastor Bob Burris - December 21, 2014
Sermon Notes
1. God is the source, the giver of peace, for His glory, Luke 2:1-20; Ephesians 2:11-22.
2. God calls His sons to be Jesus-like, to share in Jesus’ divine work, and humbly make peace, Matthew 5:9; Galatians 4:6; Romans 8:14; James 3:17. (Talk about forgiving yourself is psycho-babble.)
3. Peace at all costs can be the wrong path, 1 Corinthians 11:18; Matthew 10:34; John 15:18, 20; Acts 5:41; Isaiah 48:22.
Quotes for Meditation
“The webbing together of God, humans, and all creation in justice, fulfillment, and delight is what the Hebrew prophets call shalom. We call it peace, but it means far more than mere peace of mind or a cease-fire between enemies. In the Bible, shalom means universal flourishing, wholeness, and delight—a rich state of affairs in which natural seeds are satisfied and natural gifts fruitfully employed, a state of affairs that inspires joyful wonder as its Creator and Savior opens doors and welcomes the creatures in whom he delights. Shalom, in other words, is the way things ought to be.” Cornelius Plantinga
