A few words from Pastor
Bob...

Saying good bye to a friend and ministry partner is hard.  (Actually the unofficial TACC stance is that we stay mad at them until they’re gone and then we cry.)   It’s a new chapter in Dan and Midge’s life, in the lives of their kids, and in our lives at TACC.  Dan and Midge have been involved with the college group, the worship center refurbishing project, new member classes, choir, band, Christmas programs and cantatas, worship music, office, publications, courtyard concerts, youth band (and I’m sure I’ve left out some significant time-consuming efforts).  Dan has definitely gone far beyond the “Worship Pastor” job description.   He did all of this when my opening gambit in his job interview was, “I just want a music guy who doesn’t say stupid things in worship.”  We never did hear him say, “The Lord gave me this song.”  Thank you, Lord!

As I told the search committee at Arlington Heights, perhaps the most telling trait about Dan is his willingness to do anything – even non-music; any non-job description task asked of him – and without complaint.  That servant spirit will serve him well in Illinois.  Serving the local church is never easy, never boring and always varied.  The Lord is looking for servant-pastors and also servant-members and leaders.

We have all learned that our worship must be focused on the audience of One.  There are no heroes or stars in this choir, band, or congregation.  We sang, played, harmonized and worshipped as a congregation – together – songs that we loved, sometimes with a new twist.  Most of the time, Dan would substitute chords and rhythms, leaving enough of the original that we still knew the song, but always to and for God.

Dan and Midge came with Donny and Leah; they leave with Debbie and Donny and Leah.  We’ll miss them greatly; however, they are headed for meaningful ministry in a God-honoring church.  Our prayers go with them as well as our fond memories of our service together, and their friendship will serve us well in our future at TACC.

Missionary Moments

by

the India Mission Team

We praise God for the opportunity to share the Gospel with so many people during our recent trip to India!  The mission was focused on 4 separate villages of tea garden workers in West Bengal.  Each day we arrived in a small village of about 40 small mud huts and headed out, each with our own translator,
to tell everyone who would listen about Jesus who is the one true God.  At lunch time we would take a break and eat our jelly sandwiches, hard boiled eggs and bananas.  God blessed us with overcast days and a 'fruitful harvest.'  More than 250 adults prayed to receive the gift of forgiveness and salvation.  Praise God!  Two native pastors were commissioned to begin house churches in the villages.   Your  mission offerings  will continue to support  the two pastors for one year.  Please pray for these new believers and for 'lasting fruit.'  It's great to be home but we hope to continue the partnership begun ministering to the 'now reached' people of  India.

Lee, Mary Beth, Mike, Steve, Katie, Andrew and John.
