Calling All Prayer Warriors

We will be praying for TACC every Sunday morning at 8:00am in the Bride’s Room. Contact Gail Arneson with any questions.

Help Us Reach Out!

The Deacon Board has started an exciting new Community Outreach!  We are visiting new homeowners in our area and giving them a welcome basket, including information about TACC.  Please help support this Ministry by donating any of the following items or volunteering to help assemble and/or deliver them. We need small baskets, maps, coupons, spaghetti sauce and noodles, kitchen towels, area restaurant or business coupons, pre-wrapped cookies, picture hangers, paint brushes or any other items you think appropriate.  Please coordinate with Mike Bast (714) 906-3800.

Book Surfer Bingo

Have you checked out TACC’s summer reading program yet?  Visit the church library on Sunday to pick up a bingo card and get started.  This program is for kids ages 2 to 15.

Myanmar Dessert Gathering

There will be a time of information and fellowship as we learn more about our mission trip to Myanmar.  Ice cream and desserts will be served from 1:00 – 3:00 at the Ronk home in Orange on Sunday, July 20th.  Children (big and little) are welcome to bring their swimsuits.

SCRIP

Looking for a good summer book to read?  With your Barnes & Noble, B. Dalton Bookstore or Borders scrip, you could have that mystery, adventure or Bible in your hands for that summer reading.

The price of gas is high, but you can save for camp while filling up your tank.  Arco, Chevron, Exxon, Mobil, Shell, or Texaco scrip cards are available Sunday mornings.

Sign Up for Church Camp

Church Camp sign-ups begin this month.  Camp will be held at the Oak Glen Christian Conference Center November 7th—9th.  Our speaker this year will be Kirk Balius.

“…the need to build bridges to people beyond our own circles is more vital than ever.” --Myra & Shelley, The Leadership Secrets of Billy Graham

Homosexual marriage.  It is a struggle to be salt and light, gracious and loving, when we can hardly watch the newscasts documenting this “historic” occasion.  Channel 4 carried the California-legal marriage of two women for a full half hour on Monday.  The foundation of our society is built on the family.  Biblically, that means Adam and Eve, mom and dad, male and female in the image of God, celebrating marriage as a proclamation of Christ and His love for the church.  Difficult times will come Paul says.  Sure we can vote and lobby and call and write and pray for our nation and society.  But more than a change in the law, which may happen in November in California, they need rescuing from this foolishness – they need our Savior, the Lord Jesus.  But they won’t listen!

How do we build bridges of love, acceptance and compassion when a life-style choice is sinful?  And it’s not just homosexuality.  How do we love the homeless who are homeless by choice or by drug of choice?  How can we befriend the pregnant by promiscuity – even serial promiscuity?  They are image-bearers of God who do not glorify God.

1. God loves them.  So must we.  Any unloving attitude of superiority will be picked up quickly and all bets are off after that.

2. God has forgiven us more than we need to forgive them.  Read Matthew 18.  It’s a very poignant passage.  Humility goes a long way with everyone.
3. Find some common ground.  Forget politics.  The Bible isn’t that specific about our involvement in Iraq, Iran, nuclear arms, etc.  We certainly can be involved, but let us not confuse our political views (no matter how logical or right) with the truth of the Word of God.  Talk about spiritual things, but be willing to listen to their views.  Ask questions about their views.  Eventually they will have to say something like this, “My view doesn’t account for suffering that well.”  And you can say, “I don’t have all the answers, but the core of my beliefs gives me great answers for pain and suffering.”

4. Be the best person they know.  Be the most congenial, forgiving, easy going, loving, kind, compassionate - well, I think you know what I mean.

5. Never dilute the gospel.  It only works for sinners like you and me and them.  Tell the truth about the truth with graciousness and conviction.  Tell your story – but remember, Jesus’ story is the most important one.

6. Join a club or help a neighbor.  Make sure you have plenty of non-Christian friends.  Teach your children how to make friends.

7. Look at work differently.  In 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, Paul encourages the believers "to aspire to live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your own hands as we charged you; so that you may command the respect of outsiders, and be dependent on nobody."  The way we work influences the stance that unbelievers have towards the gospel we love.

Our own Amy Williams sends her joyful gratitude for our prayer support for the first ever Montefiascone Church retreat on June 2nd.  Her report echoes Acts 4:32, “All the believers were one in heart and mind.”  Talk to her mom, Cheryl, for a wonderful report.  Continue to pray for her visa renewal.

Herb and Gloria Baker continue to inspire us with their communication regarding their ministry that is going forward on many university campuses through International Students Inc. in Southern California.  Working together with other folks who have a similar burden for this ministry, they fellowship each Friday night in a warm home atmosphere with students representing many countries including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Korea and Vietnam.  It is always a blessing to talk to Herb and Gloria and have them share the contact they have with students who have returned to their home nation, often in governmental positions.  Let us pray for this far-reaching ministry and for our loyal representatives, the Bakers.

Brent and Stephanie Dunnam have transitioned out of their position as full-time staff for Campus Crusade for Christ.  They will both continue to stay on with CCC as part-time (very part-time) employees, as requested.  Among other responsibilities, Brent will focus on fundraising for the campus outreach budget as an account manager, and is also busy with his surfboard company (which is now up and running).  God has opened doors for volunteer service to them along with their continued association with CCC.  They want you to know how very much they have appreciated our generous support and prayers over the years and throughout this time of transition.

May 10th brought us an exciting message from Ajay Pillai, our representative with the India National Inland Mission.  “We have just concluded our Annual Christian Worker’s Conference with the graduation and commissioning of 299 newly trained missionaries from 45 different people groups.  The Lord also enabled us to ordain 17 newly qualified pastors as well.  It is always encouraging and rewarding to see our Lord consistently raising new laborers for the vast harvest fields of India and South Asia.  On Sunday, March 23rd, I personally witnessed the baptism of 125 new believers from Hindu, Sikh and Muslim backgrounds after our regular Sunday morning church services.  Despite the seemingly never-ending persecution of humble Christians and constant hindrance to the Gospel at every level, our Lord is still building His church and the gates of Hell are not prevailing against it!”  We rejoice with the leaders of this ministry.  Please continue your faithful financial and prayer support for these efforts led by Paul and Annie Pillai, and their son Ajay.

We clearly understand that the Gospel is not exclusive, but inclusive.  God’s lobby is filled with those from every economic stratum.  Every race, every tribe, every tongue, every background is welcome in His house.  And so it is with much prayer and economic support that we send our reconnoitering team off to India July 23—August 3.
